Bob Diem, owner of The New Williamsburg, is an Archbishop Curley graduate (‘84) and member of the Steamfitters and Plumbers local 486 broke into the business at a local tavern in Baltimore County called The Emerald Tavern. In these early years, Bob recalls how much he enjoyed people having a great time, raving about their food and providing a family atmosphere. He knew it was his passion. Today, joined by his wife of 18 years Ruth and twin 16-year-old sons Brandon and Blake, he has made the term family business real. While growing up in Baltimore City and living in Harford County, Bob has gotten to know many people over the years that have been instrumental in his development. Through the support of his family and his work family, this project was able to come to life.
In 2016 the opportunity to transform “the Cursed Corner” (Intersection of Rt. 1 & Rt. 152) became available. While a hot location in Fallston, it seemed like no one could provide longevity in running a restaurant or bar in that space. Bob, being from the area, saw the potential and completely renovated it to what is now known as The Fallston Barrel House. The community embraced the restaurant and to many it is now considered the “Cheers” of Fallston.
When the opportunity to transform his favorite restaurant as a child was offered, Bob knew he was the one to make it happen. Bringing this icon back, including its rich history – Bob is motivated! Along with his Executive chef Ian Frank, they will be bringing back some of the dishes the Williamsburg Inn was famous for; the prime rib, crab fluff, and the always appetizing chocolate peanut butter cake. We will feature a great wine selection to sooth your palate. Along with daily specials, we will also offer chef specials on the weekends.
The New Williamsburg’s slogan is “where you’re treated like family”. From our family to yours, we look forward to celebrating all of your special occasions. We look forward to meeting new friends and sharing great stories for generations to come.
